"Integral planning 2nd Tier IV data center" - GSA Business
    By Scott Miller

Integral Solutions Group, a division of J M Smith Corp., may build a second Tier IV data center in Spartanburg.

The company opened its first on Tuesday, a 6,000-square-foot center where businesses can reserve space. The second would be twice the size and adjacent to the current facility, said Integral President Russ Weber.

The current Tier IV data center is part of Intergral’s 20,000-square-foot Data and Business Continuity Center at 5700 N. Blackstock Road.

It will be marketed to companies across the country, Weber said. The center is ideal for small- or medium-sized companies that don’t want to invest heavily for in-house IT data centers, he said, or for large corporations that want a high-tech secure backup. Some firms have already reserved space.

As a Tier IV center, the current ISG facility is backed by multiple active power sources and cooling distribution paths to ensure nonstop operation. Baker Sales Inc. of Greenville served as the general contractor on the project.

David Cordeau, president and CEO of the Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce, said this is one of just a few Tier IV data centers in the country and will support entrepreneurial growth in Spartanburg County.

Hal Johnson, president and CEO of the Upstate Alliance, said the Integral data center will be a significant tool in the recruitment of new business to the Upstate.
